Acne scars

Acne scars occur as a result of an inflammatory reaction in the skin. After getting a pimple, red / purple spots sometimes remain visible in the skin for months. The skin can also produce more pigment as a result of the inflammatory reaction, so that these spots turn into pigment spots. As a result of acne, pits / dents can remain in the skin that will not disappear. These are acne scars. Many people come to Inskin Institute with questions about residual spots and acne scars. We understand that acne scars can make you insecure if you are confronted with this on a daily basis. The good news is that with our skin therapeutic treatments we can treat these scars well and make them less noticeable, so that you can regain more confidence!

Therapy

Scars will never go away completely, but we can make sure that discolorations become less visible and that the difference in relief is reduced. These intensive treatments are aimed at accelerating cell division and renewing the skin tissue. This will make the skin look smoother and more even. Techniques that we use for this are medical microneedling, chemical peels and IPL.

However, prevention is always better than cure! Do you suffer from acne? Then we are happy to help you control excessive sebum and pimples and prevent acne scars from forming.

  • Medical microneedling with Dermapen4

Microneedling is a scientifically recognized and safe technique. Superfine needles made of surgical steel make 200 channels per cm2 in the skin without damaging it. This stimulates cell renewal in the deeper skin layers. During the treatment, new collagen (type 3) and elastin fibers are created. This technique fills the scar with new tissue and at the same time prevents the formation of new scar tissue. With the medical microneedling pen from Dermapen4, the depth of the needles can be adjusted so that we never get deeper into the skin than necessary. This allows us to guarantee the safety of the treatment. The final result is visible after about 12 to 16 weeks.

  • Chemical Peel

At Inskin Institute we work with medical peels from the Dermaceutics brand. The peels are based on Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid, Lactic acid, Mandelic acid or Trichloroacetic acid (TCA). There is a suitable peeling for every type of skin. Chemical peels are liquids that consist of a formulation of natural acids. These active ingredients provide deep cleansing of the pores, inhibit sebum production and fight the propionibacterium acnes bacteria.

In addition, we can treat discolorations in a controlled and safe manner. Depending on the depth of the pigment and your skin type, we choose a certain type of peeling. Based on the goal you want to achieve, we determine which peeling best suits your skin condition.

At Inskin Instiute we work with the Inmode and it is CE and FDA certified.

  • IPL treatment

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the best and most effective way to reduce the redness of acne scars. At Inskin Institute we work with the Lumecca of the InMode system. Due to the built-in cooling and correct light distribution, the Lumecca is suitable for most skin types. Each pulse emits a flash of light with a spectrum of wavelengths. The red vessels absorb the energy of the flash of light, causing them to heat up and solidify. The treatment gives a short heat sensation, but this disappears immediately afterwards. It can feel like a rubber band being snapped against your skin. An additional benefit of this treatment is that IPL kills the propionibacterium acnes bacteria, which causes inflammation. The released energy also stimulates collagen production in the skin. The laser contains a cooling system, which makes the treatment well tolerated.

Home products

The treatment plan is always twofold. In addition to the treatments we perform, we advise you to get started at home with the products we recommend (at least 2 weeks prior to a treatment). We work with the cosmeceuticals from Dermaceutic and/or Rhenophase. Cosmeceuticals contain active ingredients that have been scientifically researched and proven to be effective. These products may only be recommended by doctors and skin therapists.

The products contain ingredients that have an exfoliating effect and improve the permeability of the skin, so that the active ingredients can do their job optimally. The skin will also recover faster after the treatment and you can keep the result of the treatment for longer.

What effect can you expect?

You will notice that as a result of the treatments and the use of the right products, the skin structure will improve. Coarse pores will decrease, the skin condition will improve and the skin will become more even. Depending on your skin condition, we usually start with 3-5 treatments with an interval of 6 weeks. We can combine different treatments for an optimal result. After each treatment, we will discuss the progress with you and adjust the treatment plan if necessary.

Important to know

The recovery time of the treatment depends on the area being treated and the intensity of the treatment. The skin may be temporarily red and feel itchy. After the treatment it is important to keep the skin dry for the first 24 hours. The skin can also flake or peel. It is important not to scratch. After the treatment, we advise you to avoid exfoliating products and to protect the skin as much as possible against the sun. If desired, we can advise you on the right post-treatment creams and medical foundation that provide extra comfort and a faster recovery of the skin.

Health insurance reimbursement

Inskin Institute is recognized by all health insurance companies. Skin therapy is often reimbursed from additional health insurance. The amount of the reimbursement depends on your insurance. Reimbursement from the additional healthcare insurance does not cover your deductible.
